"Ribera del Duero DO" Aalto 2014 - 6 bottles

A temperate continental climate with light influences from the Atlantic prevails in Ribera del Duero with its approx. 12,000ha of vineyards. Very little rain. During the summer nights, the temperature drops quickly and abruptly. As a result of the high air humidity, there is often fog in the Duero Valley. On both sides of the Duero river there are hill ranges and high plateaus of up to 700-800m above sea level with light ground and lime percentages of up to 18%. About 84% of the Ribera del Duero vineyards belong to the Tinto del País grape, also known as Tinta fina. It has developed from a Tempranillo. The Aalto vineyard arose from a partnership between Javier Zaccagnini and Starwinzer Mariano Garcia. Grapes from eight different Ribera del Duero municipalities are processed.  It is for that reason that Don Mariano ages the wine separately in stores, which produces up to 19 different base wines. It is only after ageing in barrels that the wines are married with one another. With great skill and experience a Cuvée is compiled of this, which recognises the great depth and exemplary balance of the Aalto. Ageing for 24 months in French and American barrels.
